Taxiunionen brings together app taxi drivers and operators in Sweden. We organise drivers and operators, engage with authorities and decision-makers, and work for a taxi industry you can make a living from.
Why we exist
We work in an industry full of pressure, worry and stress. Many drivers and operators have identified the causes — but naming a problem is not the same as solving it.
Changing our situation takes energy, initiative and solutions. Taxiunionen was founded by operators and drivers to make the industry better, more stable and more secure.

The Swedish Transport Agency has invited Taxiunionen as a concerned industry organisation in the work on the government's assignment to review certain issues in the taxi sector. The assignment concerns price information for customers and the rules on rest periods.
The Dutch data protection authority has issued a fine of nearly 825 million euros against Uber over shortcomings linked to automated systems that could block drivers’ access to the platform. Uber disputes the decision and intends to appeal. For Taxiunionen the case shows why transparency, human review and accountability for algorithmic management are central questions in the Platform Work Directive.
Taxiunionen's chair Nasar Khan writes in Expressen that the taxi industry needs a broad review but cannot wait years for an inquiry. He points to both excessive consumer prices and platform fees that squeeze drivers and operators, and calls for immediate measures — including on comparison pricing, minimum rules and the situation at Arlanda — as well as a stronger voice for small operators and one-person businesses. Politics
Taxiunionen and the Swedish Transport Workers' Union take part in the transport committee's work on the situation in the taxi industry.
The issue then reaches the chamber as well. In April, Kadir Kasirga (S) refers in a parliamentary debate to the problems described by Taxiunionen and the Transport Workers' Union, and calls for measures for the taxi industry.

Arlanda
Taxiunionen submits its response to SOU 2025:67, the public inquiry on Arlanda's role for Swedish prosperity.
The association raises the need for clearer consumer protection, better pricing, competitively neutral open queues, more modern call-forward systems, order on the taxi areas and better enforcement.
Among other things Taxiunionen proposes fewer and neutral open queues, and the principle that whoever reaches the taxi holding area first should also be called forward first.
2023–2024
Member decision
With dialogue with the large platforms no longer working, members choose another route: building an alternative where drivers and operators themselves have influence.
That decision becomes the basis for Fair Taxi.

Member benefit
Taxiunionen's members can contact Consignum about insurance for taxi operations. Consignum requests the power of attorney needed, and can then obtain and negotiate insurance offers on behalf of the operator business.
Fair Taxi
Taxiunionen sought dialogue with the large app companies about the conditions of drivers and operators. During 2023 that dialogue was effectively shut down — by several companies at almost the same time.
Members then decided on the way forward and voted to create their own member-owned alternative. That became Fair Taxi.
